Growing Different Types of Grass Needs Various Amounts of Tending
Planting grass is easy but letting it grow is harder. It is even harder to let it grow beautifully and healthily. Growing grass in your lawn can make a big difference as to how your whole property will be perceived by onlookers and passersby. It will add beauty to your garden and it can certainly change how your home will look.
If it is your first time to plant and grow grass in your yard, you should consider studying about the different types of grasses. This will ensure that you will be successful in growing grass and making your home beautiful. This is because different types of grasses would grow in different kinds of soils. Each would also grow in different climates. You also have to choose only the type that requires the amount of maintenance you can give it.
For example Kentucky bluegrass is good for sunny lawns. It is ideal for areas with a cool climate. It cannot withstand drought and deep shades. On the other hand, the Creeping Red Fescue can tolerate droughts and sunny areas. Tall Fescue is more durable and can tolerate hard use. In areas that need strong grasses, the Tall Fescue would be ideal. One of the most commonly used grasses in the southern areas is the Bermuda grass. It grows fast and can withstand heat and drought. The downside though is that it easily turns brown. It especially does so in cold weather until springtime.
These are just examples of the different types of grasses. Each has its strengths and weaknesses so you would have to take care of each differently. You cannot use all of them in one place or else some would not survive. You can also mix a couple types of grasses in your lawn though. You just have to be careful in choosing your mixture of grasses. You may also buy grass seeds at the gardening store. Just be mindful as to what is contained in the pack of grass seeds you buy. Some types of grasses don’t grow from seeds too. You would have to buy grown ones and propagate them in your lawn.
