How To Care For Your Roses
Roses remain a popular choice in planting flowers for gardeners and plant breeders. Besides the attraction of their beauty and fragrance, planting and caring for roses brings back feelings of romanticism, as roses are highly considered as ultimate symbols of love and affection.
So if you're a gardener and would like to try and plant roses in your own backyard, here are some tips to consider to achieve success in this endeavor. Caring for roses during summer is a series of fairly clear-cut and uncomplicated tasks.
After planting, the first thing that you should do is to make sure that your roses are well fed and healthy in terms of proper nutrition. Two to three shovels of compost spread around the base of the rose should do the trick. Then after seeing buds starting to form on the plant, give it a boost by feeding liquid fish emulsion. Water is the next important thing you should provide for your roses. It is vital for the survival of these plants because they are primarily made of water and not giving them lots of water will eventually dry them up. It is recommended to put an inch to an inch and a half of water around the rose weekly, and drenching it twice a week during the heat of the summer to ensure continual bloom. The next thing to do will be to prune off the dead flowers. It is not really a particularly hard thing to do. Just cut off the dead flowers with a length of the stem. The length of the stem doesn’t really matter, though plant experts argue about this point endlessly.
Other things to consider will be spraying for insects and bugs. This isn’t necessarily a part of the routine. This will only need to be done if there are bug-problems involved. And usually it is quickly resolved by choosing the right insecticide or organic spray product for your different bug problem needs.
Caring for your roses need not be the complicated process some people thought it to be. It's rather a relaxing and enjoying hobby others do during weekends and free time. It's as simple as feeding, watering, and pruning, all the while relaxing in the comfort of your beautiful garden. |
