Having a garden means that you need to have some space, time and a lot of energy. You need to put in a lot of hours to make your garden grow well.
For your first garden you will want to start off smaller and then work your way up to a larger size. You should start with easy vegetables and then work your way up to planting more. You will have to find out about the vegetables that you are planting and make sure that they will not prevent other vegetables in your garden from growing.
Some plants will take away nutrients from other plants for example; potatoes and tomatoes will steal food from squash if you plant it next to each other. All of the plants will die in the end. Beans are going to be another type of plant that should never be planted next to onions.
Tomatoes need a whole lot of space to bloom so you want to make sure that you are not planting them next to something else especially broccoli. There are other types of plants that are going to need more room to grow and thrive in their conditions.
The first year of having a vegetable garden you want to start off small and then work your way up. You can plant a little bit and spend a few hours a week in your garden working. After each year of a great garden you may want to increase your plants and start to spend more time and money on your vegetable garden.
Rotation of your crops is important. This will help to ensure that the crops grow just as you want them to each year. This will help to cut down on the chance for diseases in the soil as well.
Remember to water your vegetables. They will take more water than certain other types of vegetables and it is important to make sure that you give your plants what they need when they need it.
