The Wonder Of Hydroponics
By Perry Marshall
If you have a small garden, or no garden at all, you've probaby
never thought that there could be a way to grow stuff. But there
is a way, and it's a way that is becoming easier as time goes
by. Not to mention more popular.
If you haven't heard of the no-soil method of growing yet, you
will soon, as its popularity continues to grow.
The method works on the fact that plants don't need soil at all
in order to grow and thrive. In fact any growing media will do
the trick nicely. This means you don't have to deal with the
mess of soil at all, and can cultivate your plants in as clean
an environment as can be.
The technique of hydroponics is becoming more popular as
commercial farmers all over the world are coming to realize that
land for growing is growing in ever shorter supply. Hydroponics
was first used as a way to produce plants, such as flowers,
fruits and vegetable, commercially. But now home gardeners are
also waking to the tremendous possibilities of this growing
technology, although using it on a much smaller scale. Even a
balcony in an apartment is big enough to set up and use a
hydroponics system.
The way hydroponics works is to use a non-soil growing medium
which has all the nutrients that the plant needs to flourish
properly. There is also another advantage to using a non-soil
growing medium, in that the nutrients are readily available to
the plant, which makes for much faster growth since the plant
can get to the nutrients much faster than it would do with soil.
With hydroponics there is also much less chance of the plant
contracting a disease. There is always the risk of a soil-borne
disease affecting the plant, but with hydroponics this is much
reduced
What it boils down to is that growing plants using hydroponics
is one of the easiest systems there is.
